With Brains and Striking Power to Success

Huzaifa Saadat is Head of Adaptive AUTOSAR in the AUTOSAR Competence Center of OSB AG. Here he reveals why he enjoys his work every single day and which personal passion of his he can pursue both in Munich as well as in his home country of Pakistan.

Developing the future of the automobile has always been a big dream of Huzaifa Saadat. So big, in fact, that he left his home in Pakistan and did his Master of Science in Automotive Software Engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology. From there, he began working at OSB AG in Munich. And it is here that 29-year-old Huzaifa is living his dream: As Head of Adaptive AUTOSAR in the AUTOSAR Competence Center, everything revolves around new developments in the automotive industry and autonomous driving.

Representing OSB AG – throughout Europe

“I love my job. It's varied and I learn something new every day,” says Huzaifa Saadat. “I represent OSB AG as a safety expert in the AUTOSAR consortium. We are responsible for writing specifications that will make cars even safer in the future. As an integration expert, I also represent a renowned Munich automotive manufacturer in the AUTOSAR consortium. I am responsible for integrating the code that we receive from developers in AUTOSAR. I also travel once or twice a month to attend AUTOSAR meetings. This involves trips all over Europe, and sometimes quite far away, for instance to Warsaw.”

New (career) paths far from home

Being open to new countries and exciting opportunities is a matter of course for Pakistan-born Huzaifa. After all, he left his home country five and a half years ago to study in Europe. “I really wanted to do a Master's in Automotive Software Engineering, and Germany is simply the best choice,” says Huzaifa Saadat. And he successfully completed his Master’s at Chemnitz University of Technology.

So how did he get on board at OSB? “Even during my studies, I regularly looked at potential employers in the industry,” explains Huzaifa, who is now Head of Adaptive AUTOSAR. "OSB AG appears as a development partner on the AUTOSAR website.  I therefore knew that the company was working on the future of the automobile. I then took a closer look at OSB. As I was impressed by what I saw, I applied and fortunately met with success".

Reliability in the team – and on the cricket field

Huzaifa Saadat has been working for OSB AG for more than three years now. And there is no danger of him becoming bored: “I have interesting projects and am appreciated for my work. Besides this, the team spirit among my OSB colleagues is unique. Everyone is very friendly and they have been helpful from the start. We regularly go out to eat together, have barbecues in summer or visit the Oktoberfest.”

And if he ever feels homesick, he just picks up a cricket bat. Introduced in colonial times, cricket is now a national sport in Pakistan. There is even a large fan community in Munich, too. “I am in the Bavarian Cricket Association,” explains Huzaifa Saadat. “In summer, we play every weekend and in winter we meet up regularly for indoor cricket.” Striking power, stamina, analytical thinking and agility are called for in cricket. These are skills that Huzaifa Saadat not only possesses on the pitch, but also in his profession – and they render him a valuable member of the OSB team.
